About
Irish dance is for all ages and stages!
Nora’s dance classes inspire and nurture each dancer’s ability while building a strong and inclusive community.
“Once students join Nora Pickett Irish Dance Academy they tend to stay throughout their childhood and into adulthood. Unique opportunities to learn, compete, perform and teach are available as each student works hard to achieve their goals”, says Nora.
Join our Celtic journey of music and dance with lifelong friendships and teamwork by joining a class or booking an Eire Born show.
Irish dance Shows are powerful and uplifting!
Nora’s dancers love to perform and Eire Born provides that opportunity. Top dancers from the Academy are invited to further develop their performance talents while inspiring privileged audiences locally, nationally and internationally.
The dance troupe has travelled to New York City and Switzerland and they have had the opportunity to tour with Natalie MacMaster in North America.
Eire Born rocks the docks at the Steveston Pier every Sunday in August, sets the stage on fire with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, livens up many community festivals and endears many senior residences throughout the year.
The troupe has crashed wedding parties, corporate events and they have brought several rounds of thunderous energy to local pubs whether they are Irish or not!
Talk to us about your event and we will add a wee bit of Irish tradition.
Ceili & Year End Show
Each year all NPIDA dancers perform in our Ceili and Year End Show to showcase their progress, talent and enthusiasm for Irish dance! Families and friends, young and old all gather to cheer on the dancers while they set the stage on fire with dance choreographies, dance dramas, humourous additions and grace. Our first Ceili was held in 1999 with only 30 dancers. This year we expect over 150 dancers to perform on stage at the Ceili. Hard work, determination and teamwork between the dancers and teachers over many months help produce a truly inspiring and entertaining show! Our 40 Eire Born dancers also get to showcase their best performances. Our Ceili is a public fundraising event hosted in partnership with the Eire Born Irish Dance Society (EBIDS) to help our NPIDA dancers and instructors pay for costumes and travel expenses. Come join the fun!
This year’s 11th Annual Ceili and Year End Show is on Sunday, April 18th, 2010 at the Centennial Theatre in North Vancouver. Tickets are available NOW at the Centennial Theatre box office. Contact us for further information.
