Tomas definitely secured his qualification to compete at the 2014 World Irish Dance Championships in London, England this April. He has done this by winning the U14 Boys’ category at both the North American Irish Dance Championships last July 2013, and at the 2013 Western Canadian Regional Oireachtas last November!
Tomas first qualified for the 2012 World Irish Dance Championships when he placed first in the U12 Boys’ category at the 2011 WCR Oireachtas. At the 2012 Oireachtas, Tomas again won his category to qualify for the 2013 World Championships. We are all so proud of his achievements! Good luck at the “2014 Worlds”, Tomas!

Nora has submitted the following updates regarding recent media about NPIDA, Eire Born and the upcoming Vancouver CelticFest: 1. We had 14 Eire Born dancers attended a fun 2.5 hour video session with a Video Journalist from Shaw TV on Wednesday. It took place at the North Vancouver NPIDA studio and a 2 hour interview session took place after the dance and video session. Our dancers performed 3 Eire Born routines in solo dresses; then Mackenzie, Tomas and I were interviewed about aspects of Irish dancing and how our lives have evolved around Irish dancing. Please watch for this combo story about CelticFest, Eire Born and NPIDA on Shaw TV! It will air TONIGHT (March 7) at 5:00PM and 11:00PM, and TOMORROW (March 8) at 5:00AM, 9:00AM and 1:00PM.
Shaw TV has now posted it on YouTube:

NPIDA – History has been made!

Posted: Wednesday, November 27th, 2013

For the first time in NPIDA history, we have had three sisters achieve 1st place in their respective age categories at the Western Canadian Regional Oireachtas. This year’s Oireachtas, held in Vancouver, B.C. on November 9 -10th, 2013, served to determine which dancers qualify for the National and World Irish Dance Championships! We are so proud of Emma, Caitlin, and Macaela! All three girls have qualified for the North American Irish Dance Championships. Caitlin and Macaela are also World Irish Dance Championship qualifiers! (Emma is too young; the youngest age category at Worlds is U10.)
