Irish Dance classes improve balance, coordination, strength, stamina, confidence, and teamwork. Through laughter and tears, peers practice and perform with pride in a positive, supportive, and dynamic environment.
The De Danaan School of Irish Dance offers recreational, competitive, and performance Irish dance classes, from pre-beginner to open championship level, from ages 4 to adult.
All new dancers are invited to come try a class for free, at any time of the year. We want to make sure you are in the right place – come tour the studio, meet the teachers, and ask any questions you might have before making a commitment.
Dancers will learn the basics of traditional soft shoe dances and Ceili dancing. We begin each class with a proper warm-up, followed by dance drills to learn proper technique, memorization and timing of the first two to three dances, ending with a fun dance and stretching. By the end of the year, Pre-Beginners will have learned at least two to three soft shoe dances to perform at the year-end show.
Dancers in this class will master four soft shoe dances. Each class begins with a warm up, followed by dance drills, technique training, finishing with a fun dance and stretching. Note: Dancers at this level are encouraged to practice more at home as they are eager to learn more and reach higher levels. They may be in this class for a few years mastering their technique and dances, depending on how much they practice.
Learning four hard shoe dances, dancers in this class will master increasingly difficult moves with greater intensity, depending on their ability level and progression.
